100% Renewable ZERO GHG Emissions

Over the last 10 years, BDNE has worked closely with the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA), the National Energy and Fuel Institute (NEFI), Maine Energy Marketers Association (MEMA) to develop a 100% renewable, carbon-negative heating fuel product, EL100.

EL100 is poised to become a major component of the future heating fuel mix. In 2019, heating oil industry leadership and policy makers adopted a resolution at the Northeast Industry Summit to achieve net-zero-carbon emissions by 2050.

BDNE and Sprague Operating Resources are poised to play a key role in this transition.

2019 GREET Analysis - EL100 EarthShift Global

“We’re excited by the prospect of EL100 to contribute to the region’s decarbonization goals while leveraging existing heating system infrastructure and supporting consumer choices. Low carbon liquid fuels offer the greatest potential for meaningful, near-term reduction in emissions, and we believe that Biofine’s process is an innovative approach to supporting Maine’s forest products’ economy and renewable energy goals.”
